Despite the wet weather that soaked the course during the final races of the night, Brentsville District High School celebrated another successful Under the Lights Brentsville Relays cross country meet. The 8th annual event featured 63 cross country teams from Virginia, Washington D.C., and Maryland.

The six-hour event featured 12 different races, from high school varsity to elementary school races.

As expected, the Midlothian girls dominated throughout the day, winning the Women’s “B” race to start the day and winning the women’s “A” race by almost two minutes at the end of the night. The Mountain View boys took the top spot in the men’s “B” meet, while the Atlee boys won the men’s “A” meet.

The Northern Region brought 20 teams to the event, with the Lake Braddock (49:47) girls celebrating a second-place finish during the women’s “A” meet. The Herndon girls were right behind the Bruins with a third-place finish. The West Potomac (51:10) girls finished ninth, while Langley (52:15), Robinson (52:53), T.C. Williams (53:09), Westfield (53:44) and South County (53:46) made it in the top 20.

On the boys side for the Northern Region, Robinson (42:04) finished strong in third place, while South County (42:20), W.T. Woodson (42:33), and Lake Braddock (42:39) all finished in the top ten.

Loudoun County’s Potomac Falls had the best finish of all Northern Virginia teams on the boys side, finishing second with a time of 42:04, 36 seconds behind first-place Atlee. The Panther boys took the overall meet boy’s title with top-five finishes in all three races.

Other top Loudoun County boys teams include Dominion (12th, 43:04) and Heritage (30th, 44:57). Potomac Falls, Dominion and Heritage also brought the top three Loudoun County girls teams, with the Panthers finishing 14th with a time of 52.29, the Titans finishing 31st with a time of 55:49 and the Pride right behind them with a 32nd-place finish with a time of 55:52.

Host school Brentsville took fourth in the women’s “A” meet with a time of 50:04, while the Brentsville boys took 15th with a time of 43:19.
